GRANT & MANHATTANVILLE DAY – UNITY UNDERSTANDING & PEACE

We request the presence of other community organizations who stand against violent through out our city. Together with the assistance of community activist Mr. Taylonn Murphy (Tayshana “Chicken” Murphy Foundation) and Derrick Haynes (B.R.I.C.C.S Inc.), families have come together privately in meetings within our community to formulate a plan of action towards JUVENILES, VIOLENCE, CRIME and the ineffective STOP QUESTION and FRISK policies.
In conjunction with THE WEST HARLEM LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION,
THE NATIONAL ACTION NETWORK, and COMMUNITY BOARD#9 we have agreed to come together and stand in UNITY against violence within HARLEM and specifically the Manhattanville and Grant NYCHA developments. For far to long the senseless violence on our streets corners and now on our “playgrounds” has gripped our community it has taken our Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers and our most precious innocent children.
If there has ever been a time that our community must stand against this plague called violence it is now. We must accept and address our failures as a community to correct these issues surrounding guns, violence and recidivism. Through constant consultation with the families directly involved with the Murphy case, conclusions have been established that must be established.
